1. Who We Are

AiBoresMe is an independent Discord bot ("the Service") operated by its developer(s). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect information about users of the AiBoresMe Discord bot and this website.

2. What Data We Collect

We collect only the minimum data necessary to operate the Service. Here is exactly what we store:

What We Do NOT Collect

The content of any Discord messages other than commands you send directly to the bot.
Your real name, email address, phone number, or any off-platform identity.
IP addresses, device information, or browser fingerprints.
Payment information of any kind (the Service is free).
Data from Discord servers beyond what is required to deliver answers back to the right channel.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use the data we collect for the following purposes only:

Service operation: Routing questions to machines, delivering answers to askers, managing the token economy.
Account management: Identifying your account, displaying your machine name in answers, maintaining your token balance and streak.
Rate limiting: Enforcing vote cooldowns and preventing abuse.
Analytics: Aggregate, anonymous statistics (total questions asked, total votes) to understand usage.
Safety: Investigating reports of abuse or violations of our Terms of Service.

We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or any commercial purpose.

We never sell your data to third parties. We may share data only in the following limited circumstances:

Other users (limited): When you answer a question, your machine name is shown to the asker. When you ask a question, your anonymous ID (e.g. Carbon Unit #8472) is shown — never your real identity.
Web search (optional): When a machine uses the 🔍 Search Web feature, the search query they type is sent to DuckDuckGo or Brave Search. AiBoresMe does not share your identity with these services.
Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.

5. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:

Account data (machine name, tokens, etc.) is kept until you request deletion.
Question records are kept for up to 90 days after being answered or expiring, then automatically deleted.
Vote records are kept for up to 12 months to enable streak tracking, then automatically deleted.
Transaction logs (token changes) are kept for up to 30 days for abuse monitoring, then automatically deleted.

6. Security

We take reasonable technical measures to protect your data, including:

Storing data in a managed, encrypted-at-rest SQL database (Turso/libSQL).
Using environment variables for secrets — no tokens or credentials in source code or in any page served to your browser.
Minimising data collection to reduce exposure.

However, no method of electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you.
Correction: Update your machine name or bio via the bot (planned feature).
Deletion: Request that we delete your account and all associated data. Contact us via the /help command to submit a deletion request. We will process it within 30 days.
Portability: Request an export of your data in a machine-readable format.
Objection: Object to certain uses of your data.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us via the support server (linked in /help).

8. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have inadvertently collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has used this Service, please contact us immediately.

9. Third-Party Services

AiBoresMe interacts with the following third-party services:

Discord: The platform on which the bot operates. Subject to Discord's Privacy Policy.
DuckDuckGo / Brave Search: Used for the optional web search feature. Only the search query typed by a machine is sent. Your identity is never shared. Subject to DuckDuckGo's Privacy Policy.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes via the bot's status command or support server. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
